Acute Toxicity Labels
- This GHS sign communicates the existence of chemicals or gases that are fatal or toxic when swallowed, inhaled or upon contact with skin.
- Chemical examples: Chlorine (compressed or liquefied), Formaldehyde, and Cyanides.
- Hazard is represented by a skull and crossbones pictogram.
- GHS signs are required as a precaution to ensure safe handling, storage and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
- This GHS sign must be visibly displayed on:
- The individual container of the toxic chemical, and;
- The exterior of the facility, vehicle or storage container in which the chemical is located/stored - To appropriately inform and alert emergency services in the case of an emergency.
